Kestrel Gymnastics Edinburgh

Kestrel Gymnastics Group was formed in June 1987 and worked out of the Forrestine’s Centre at St Augustine’s High School, Edinburgh, from then until October 1999. We have been awarded the British Gymnastics Association Regional Club of the Year twice.

Kestrel moved to Drumbrae Leisure Centre, Edinburgh on the opening of the Centre in October 1999.

We have performed in every Gymfest and take part in many other festivals throughout the year including the London Festival held each October. Festivals are the non-competitive arm of gymnastics and serves to give every participant an opportunity to shine out within the support of their own group.

Fitness and the Fire and Rescue Service.

Lynne.Gow@lbfire.org.uk

I am a recruitment Outreach Officer and firefighter with Lothian and

Borders Fire and Rescue Service.

I would like to bring to your attention career opportunities to your

female sports enthusiasts that may be of interest and would be grateful

if you, as club representatives, could spread the word about these

opportunities.

The Fire and Rescue Service is under-represented by women. We only make

up 5% of the firefighting workforce and to enable us to be more

effective in delivering our service, we are offering opportunities for

women to find out more about being a firefighter.

We currently run information sessions monthly at various locations

across the service area and would be delighted to tailor one of those

sessions with female members of your clubs.

We run fitness orientated information sessions that would introduce your

female members to the shuttle run tests and other physical aspects of

the selection process and the job of a firefighter.

Some of the greatest qualities of a firefighter, of which I am sure your

club members possess are; determination, resilience and a positive

attitude to fitness.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by email or on 07795 685205 if you

wish to explore this further.

Kind Regards

Lynne Gow
